First of all, it is undeniable that we live in an extraordinary time. In fact, there are countless unique figures affecting the world in different aspects. One of the most influential but not so well-known figures is the German philosopher Martin Heidegger. He has fascinating perspectives from phenomenology to ontology, which is successfully identified in the many of his readings such as “Translator’s Appendix: A Note on the Da and the Dasein.” The primary aim is dive further in Heidegger’s ideas regarding language in order to gain a deeper complex understanding of his unique point of view.
The author initiates with the three most well-known German terms for existence, these are das Dasein, das Vorhandensein (die Vorhandenheit) and die Existenz. The German language actively illustrates that it is well developed and exists of many varieties, as we can see with the example of being. As a matter of fact, diverse writers utilized the word interchangeably even though there are semantic distinctions among the interesting concepts. For instance, Kant uses the word Dasein or Existence when he talks about God, non-human elements or human beings.
On the contrary, Heidegger elaborates that there is a significant distinction or categorization of the existence of the human being and of natural manners while theology. The comparison between Heidegger and Kant clearly underlines that both fascinating figures interpreted and developed the terms from a different point of view. Nonetheless, this opens new discussions about the conceptualization of words. Further, the concepts’ specific definition since this may vary due to various time and space. It is not only crucial but fundamental to consider the zeitgeist of the time the writings and works were composed in order to gain a better understanding of the ideas that the authors want to deliver. It is significant to realize that diverse historical and locational contexts matter in the interpretation and utilization of certain thoughts, likewise with the term of the being. To be more specific, Heidegger aims to provide a deeper comprehension of the usage of the concepts of Dasein and Existenz. He firmly uses them when highlighting knowledge about human beings. On the other hand, Heidegger identifies the word Vorhandensein and Vorhandenheit for non-human beings. This actively illustrates that there is a major difference between human and non-human beings. As a matter of fact, Heidegger highlights that Dasein is used as the name for being most of the time. In contrast, the word Existence in German reflects the mode or condition of being of the so-called Dasein. In other words, the concept of Dasein can translate it into English as existing. Hence, Heidegger actively benefits from the world “das Dasein” in his fascinating writings and works. It is essential to know that the German word “Dasein” reflects a more vivid and explicit meaning.
It is possible to extract a deeper comprehension of Heidegger; he claims that the individual or human is between the being and beings. To put it another way, a human being is between the one who holds open the distinction between them. In conclusion, it is possible to interpret that the German language is very deep-rooted, as is elaborated above. One word or concept is able to refer and express more than one single idea. In my opinion, the variety and diverse facets of the amazing language. The word “sein” can reflect the word of the presence or exist.
As a matter of fact, Heidegger also focuses on thoughts that elaborate on the idea of history of being and the modern condition. It is possible to state that he strikes us with the thought-provoking idea that is metaphysics is reflected by the essence of what is and determination of the truth. As a result, Heidegger highlights that the word “reflection” can be translated into The German term Besinnung. On the other hand, another significant concept is underlined in the books, which is the word of “essence”. I strongly believe that there is a deeper connection with both terms because without an essence, so a being, there cannot be a reflection. The main reason is that there has to be something in the first place in order to be reflected as another element. In addition, I think that it goes both ways. In other words, without a reflection, the concept of essence or being does not carry any meaning. Furthermore, the author elaborates that the term reflection is the brave behavior or courage to explore the truth of our own presuppositions in terms of the realm of our desires and goals into the aspects that required to be defined as questions. To express my opinion, analyzing the reflection can be challenging since it provides precious information about the truth which we maybe unconsciously hide in. Hence, the main idea is to identify that machine technology is a significant transformation of practices. On the contrary, praxis first needs the participation of the field of mathematical physical science. The main point that is examined in this passage is that the technology of machines establishes the foundation of diverse autonomous transformations throughout the history. It is essential to remember the important phenomenon of aesthetics which can be interpreted in different ways. For instance, the expression of art is compelling in terms of reflecting the human life and the surroundings within a society throughout numerous time periods. Moreover, another decisive aspect is that of human being activity which can be successfully observed in culture of the humankind. All in all, there are many reflections that can be examined in diverse ways, as it is mentioned above. I also believe that prominent institutions play a decisive role in the determination of the human being in general and the analysis made by Heidegger fascinates me. One of them being the religious institution, which is more dominant in conservative cultures. To provide an example, in his readings, he specifies the issue of religion to Christianity. Also, the beliefs and perspectives about God play a significant aspect because many people commit their lives to the existence of God and his wishes. So to speak, God has certain expectations like being a good Christian and fulfilling specific responsibilities as the honorable human being. The concept of religion is utilized in order to shape one’s life throughout time. Not only in psychological it also in social and cultural manners religion may influence diverse aspects. To sum up, everything that has been stated, his not only fascinating but extraordinary writings lead me to think that he really is a genius of conquering many issues and opening new perspectives within interesting thoughts.
